Harmony Health and Wellness FAQ

Online, Virtual or Video  Doctor Consultation FAQs

What is an online, virtual or video doctor consultation?
These are private video-based medical appointments that allow you to speak directly with a qualified doctor from your phone, tablet, or computer. It offers a convenient way to receive medical assessment, advice, and treatment without attending a clinic in person.

How do these consultations work?

After booking your appointment online, you will receive a confirmation email containing a secure video consultation link. Please join the consultation a few minutes before your scheduled time. Your doctor will conduct the appointment via our secure online platform.

Can I talk to a doctor online?

Yes. Our online consultations enable you to speak face-to-face with a fully qualified and registered doctor in a confidential and secure video environment, comparable to a traditional in-person appointment.

What can I ask an online doctor?

You may discuss a wide range of health concerns, including new symptoms, ongoing medical conditions, medication queries, and follow-up care. Our doctors will assess your symptoms, review relevant medical history, and provide appropriate clinical advice.

How much does it cost?

Online doctor consultations with Harmony Health and Wellness start from £65.
This fee covers your video consultation and professional medical assessment.
The consultation fee does not include the cost of any medications prescribed, which are payable separately to the dispensing pharmacy in accordance with their pricing.

Are online consultations safe and confidential?

Yes. We take patient safety, confidentiality, and data protection seriously. All consultations are conducted using secure technology, and your personal and medical information is handled in line with UK data protection regulations. Our clinicians are fully qualified, registered, and practise in accordance with GMC standards.

Do you record my online consultation?

No. Video or audio consultations are not recorded. Your doctor will only create standard clinical notes as part of your medical record, in line with professional and legal requirements.

What can an online doctor do?

During an online consultation, our doctors can:
  • Take a medical history and assess your symptoms
  • Provide clinical advice and treatment recommendations
  • Prescribe medication where appropriate
  • Issue referrals or recommend further investigations
Some medical conditions may require a physical examination or face-to-face assessment. If this is the case, your doctor will advise you accordingly.

Can an online doctor prescribe medication?

Yes — our doctors may prescribe medications during your online consultation when clinically appropriate and in line with UK prescribing guidelines. Prescriptions can be sent to your chosen pharmacy.
Please note: we do not prescribe certain controlled or high-risk medications online.

Are there any limitations to online prescriptions?

Yes. Certain medications — particularly controlled drugs or high-risk medications that require close monitoring or physical examination — cannot be prescribed via online consultations.
Prescription decisions are made at the clinician’s discretion and are subject to clinical appropriateness. If a prescription cannot be issued, your doctor will explain why and advise on the most suitable next steps.

What can an online doctor not treat?

Online consultations are not suitable for medical emergencies, urgent conditions, or situations requiring immediate physical examination or intervention. If you are experiencing severe or worsening symptoms, please contact NHS 111, emergency services, or attend your nearest urgent care facility.
